Yojan Basnet

Yojan Basnet is an anthropologist and qualitative researcher based in Nepal. His work explores the human dimension of climate change, environment, public health, and social justice through ethnographic and participatory research. He is interested in understanding how local knowledge, lived experiences, and community perspectives can contribute to inclusive research, policy, and environmental decison-making.

Yojan Basnet holds a Master's degree in Anthropology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His research has focused on qualitative and ethnographic approaches to understand the human dimensions of environmental change, health, and development. His master's research explored how communities in the Trans-Himalayan region of Dolpo experience and understand climate change through local knowledge, beliefs, and everyday livelihood practices. He has contributed to research projects on climate change and agriculture, access to nutrition services among marginalized communities, and adolescent mental health in Nepal.

During the Applied Anthropology Network Mentorship Program, Yojan explored how anthropological perspectives can contribute to development practice, policy, and applied research. He hopes to continue to build expertise in research and interdisciplinary collaboration while working at the intersection of anthropology, environmental change, and indigenous knowledge, social and environmental justice. He is interested in working to bring together community experiences with policy and practice to addressing complex environmental and societal challenges.
